Presently a professor at Northeastern University Law School, Professor Medwed has provided legal analysis and commentary for the BBC, NBC News, New York Times, Boston Globe and WGBH. "In Partnership for Exoneration"

MACDL is pleased to honor a remarkable client-lawyer team, Angel Echavarria and his post-conviction lawyer, Leslie O’Brien, for their partnership resulting in Mr. Echavarria’s 2015 exoneration of a 1994 murder he has always maintained he did not commit. For seven years Angel and Leslie worked together tirelessly to marshal the compelling evidence that Angel was deprived of the effective assistance of counsel and wrongfully convicted on the basis of unreliable eyewitness evidence. This May, the motion for a new trial was granted after the Court was left “with a compelling belief that justice may not have been done in this case”. The District Attorney’s office subsequently announced that it would not retry the case.
